The 2023 UK Athletics Championships are run on Rekortan
The Home of UK Athletics hosts the best home-grown talent
The UK Athletics Championships took place on 8-9 July 2023 at the home of UK Athletics. The Manchester Arena, hosting the competition for the fourth consecutive year, witnessed the very best UK athletes. Going head-to-head for national titles and places on the GB and Northern Ireland team for this year’s World Athletics Championships in Budapest, there was plenty at stake.
Fast Rekortan M track sees some stunning performances
With over 800 athletes competing, the UK Athletics Championships is unrivalled in the domestic athletics calendar in the UK and this year did not disappoint. Running on a Rekortan M track, the most certified track globally by World Athletics, the stars of the UK athletics scene turned out some spectacular results.
A 200m Championship Record
Daryll Neita, a 100m finalist at the Tokyo Olympics won the women’s 200m in a Championship Record of 22.25sec. This is the 11th fastest time in the women’s 200m this season. Dina Asher-Smith, with the rain marginally eased, won her fifth national title in the 100m in 11.06.
British Record Holder bags the 100m and 200m double
Zharnel Hughes, who is in spectacular form, won the men’s 100m and 200m double. Just one month after capturing the British record (9.83 seconds) in New York he also won the men’s 100m at the UK Athletics Championships. His time of 10.03sec in the abysmal conditions during a torrential rain storm was simply astonishing. On the fast track, he ran a wind‑assisted 19.77 in the 200m.
A 1500m victory for Katie Snowden
Katie Snowden, a Polytan Ambassador, got the better of Laura Muir in the 1500m, crossing the line first in 4:09.86.
