Trusted & Chosen since 1969
The name Rekortan is derived from two words. Rekort, which is German for ‘record’, combined with ‘tan’, from the name ‘Tartan’.
‘Tartan’, a Sport Group brand, is the name of the first synthetic track ever used at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City.
The German part of the name (Rekort) derives from the fact that in the early days of the synthetic track industry, the leading track technology was developed in Germany.
Combined, these two words form Rekortan, a name and system which, since its debut in 1969 has delivered quality, consistency and record-breaking speed.
As one of the original track brands, we know what it takes to last and to support track and field. Our chemistry and construction knowledge is the deepest in the industry and when combined with over 50 years of track experience from Polytan, it is an unbeatable combination that delivers long-lasting benefits for our customers and the athletes.
Over the last 50 years, from the first track in 1969, to the LA Olympics (1984), to the Stuttgart World Championships (1993) to the Asian Championships in Sri Lanka (2002), to the Stockholm Diamond League (2010) to the Penn Relays, USA (2023), we have run a decades-long race with the sport.
