Cardinia Shire Council track delivered from concept to creation

Polytan Australia, a member of Sport Group, was trusted and chosen by the Cardinia Shire Council to construct their brand new athletics track facility at IYU Recreation Reserve in Pakenham from scratch. The ambitious project included bulk earthworks, drainage works, concrete works, asphalting and the installation of our Australian-made Rekortan M sandwich system.

From the ground up

The Polytan team collaborated with A1 Civil to conduct bulk earthworks and establish the necessary grade and levels. Polytan’s unique methodology involved creating a solid base stabilisation that reduces cracking and falls. This ensures the longevity and durability for the foundation of the track. Polytan installed the infield drainage for irrigation and natural turf seeding, and various athletics equipment including aluminium running rails that meet World Athletics requirements.

Good communication kept the project on track

Despite extreme wet weather conditions, the project remained on course through experienced teams and a high level of communication between the Cardinia Shire Council and Polytan.

The result?

A quality track that meets exacting World Athletics requirements and has provided the Cardinia Shire Council with a quality, long-lasting surface for athletic events and community runners.
