A smart, sustainable solution for North London athletics

Willesden Sports Centre is a fitness, leisure and community centre in North London.

Indoors, the impressive complex includes swimming pools, a fitness studio, a sports hall with a 60-metre indoor track and four courts.

Outdoors there is a six-lane track with two additional sprint lanes, along with jumping and throwing areas.

The track was re-topped with Rekortan M by Polytan

Re-topping is an economical and sustainable solution for the renovation of sports facilities. It allows the existing elastic base layers to be used which is better for sustainability.

Smart athletes run faster

The track was also fitted with SMART technology.

This technology is unique, with magnetic gates embedded in the track connecting to a sensor or smartphone worn by the runner. With the technology touching the athlete, the diagnostics are the most accurate available.

At Willesden, the athletes can conduct agility tests, jumping tests, endurance tests and sprint tests using the advanced technology.
